James Alexander is hell-bent on success. But success at what? His prodigious intellect points to a bright future in academia with his poetess girlfriend, Sarah. But growing up on a hardscrabble farm in Tennessee has him hankering for wealth and status. His frat buddy, Lark, convinces him that in 1985 Wall Street is the quickest way to get there.”

The two start a hedge fund and get rich quick. James seeks to take advantage of all that Manhattan has to offer, partying and club-hopping with a crowd of social climbers, financiers, artistes, fashionistas, and euro-trash aristocrats, 80’s beautiful people. But lover-of-poetry that he is, James can’t forget Sarah. She, his fading literary aspirations, and a graffiti artist named Michel Baptiste will haunt him as he scales Manhattan’s canyons of avarice.

About the Author

Michael Goodwin was born and raised in Memphis, TN. He received his BA from the University of Virginia, majoring in English Literature and Religious Studies. He later got an MBA at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. While at Wharton, he won Honorable Mention for poems submitted in the Academy of American Poets College Prize, judged by James Dickey. He has had long and successful career on Wall Street. He presently resides in Wilton, CT.
